Illegal parking blocking new underpass to disabled persons
Reported via desktop anonymously at 12:52, Wed 15 September 2021
Sent to East Hertfordshire District Council and Hertfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3002890.
As part of the redevelopment of the Mill Studios site in Crane Mead (Ware) there was a planning requirement to reopen the direct route UNDER the viaduct from Crane Mead to the station. This was to be for pedestrians, cyclists, and (by inference ) disabled vehicles such as electric wheel chairs and scooters. Only the side of the route is level but with a steep kerb and bollards to prevent cars and larger vehicles using this short-cut . All was well until unknown people recently began permanently parking on the level section effectively blocking access to prams or the aforesaid wheelchairs.

The (untaxed) car is still blocking the PUBLIC level access under the viaduct as shown. Just a day ago I saw a woman trying to use the right of way with a pram. She was having considerable difficulty and a "disabled scooter" user would find it impossible!

When I recently looked I was pleased to see that ALL the cars blocking the level public right-of-way had been removed! An excellent result and now the route is again useable to mobility scooters and similar vehicles in addition to pedestrians and cyclists.
