Dangerous Parking
Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 09:47, Tue 13 March 2012
Sent to East Hertfordshire District Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 238392.
Cars parked along Amwell Lane right up to junction with Durham Close. Cannot see approaching traffic when trying to turn either left or right from Durham Close. Opening window and listening not always successful as some engines very quiet. There is going to be a serious accident here soon if nothing is done about this. Can't the drivers be prosecuted? I would not dream of parking so close to a junction.

Yesterday double yellow lines were painted on the two corners of Durham Close, however the blocked vision problem has always been caused by cars parked in Amwell Lane which are too close to Durham Close.
There are still cars parked up to the corner of the Close in Amwell Lane, thus the vision problem persists.Posted anonymously at 11:29, Tue 17 April 2012

Double yellow lines have been painted in Durham Close itself, not where they are required in Amwell Lane. The cars are parked in Amwell Lane, close to the corner of Durham Close, but they have never parked in Durham Close itself and certainly not on the corner.
The problem has always been that the parked cars in Amwell Lane block the line of vision - cars travelling down Amwell Lane towards Stanstead Abbotts CANNOT BE SEEN.
I have now had two near misses as I have been forced to pull out 'blind'. It wouldn't be so bad if traffic was moving at the proper 30mph but often they are going much faster than this, sometimes 45-50mph.
