We frequently walk from The Hyde, along Trapstyle to Ware town and the level of rubbish is steadily increasing. Now there is so much dumped waste and litter everywhere that someone has started leaving bags of rubbish to add to the problem. The whole area requires a really good tidy up to remove all the garbage that has been dropped by inconsiderate individuals. All the mess pictured is after the last house on the left all the way to the footpath that leads to The Hyde.
Most weekends I pick up all the rubbish in The Hyde, filling a bin bag each time in the hope that when the road, verge and parking spaces are clean it will make people feel too guilty to throw down their litter and rubbish, unfortunately this has not worked and I constantly have to repeat this task.
What can be done to reduce littering and this type of fly tipping of household waste? Is more signs the answer advertising the large fine if caught? Should there be a leaflet drop to remind the residents of their legal and moral obligation to treat their environment with respect? Should it focus on the cost of having to clear up the mess left around the neighbourhood?
